High cholesterol is one of the major risk factors for heart attack and stroke, especially in countries like Bangladesh where lifestyle and diet can increase fat levels in the blood. ATV 20 is a prescription tablet containing Atorvastatin 20 mg, manufactured by Delta Pharma Ltd., designed to help lower “bad” cholesterol and protect the heart when used along with a healthy diet and lifestyle.

Atorvastatin, the generic ingredient in ATV 20, belongs to a group of medicines called statins, which work by selectively inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, a key enzyme in the liver’s cholesterol production pathway. By reducing the amount of cholesterol the body makes, ATV 20 helps lower LDL (“bad” cholesterol), total cholesterol, triglycerides and Apo B levels, while modestly raising HDL (“good” cholesterol).

Indications: Who Is ATV 20 For?

Doctors prescribe ATV 20 in Bangladesh for adults and suitable older children in several situations:

Primary hypercholesterolemia – high cholesterol levels due to genetics or lifestyle
Combined (mixed) dyslipidemia – raised cholesterol plus raised triglycerides
Hypertriglyceridemia – mainly high triglyceride levels in the blood
Familial hypercholesterolemia – inherited high cholesterol, both heterozygous and homozygous forms, usually in combination with diet and sometimes other medicines
Prevention of cardiovascular events – reducing risk of heart attack, stroke or other major heart-related events in high-risk patients (for example, those with diabetes or existing heart disease).

ATV 20 is used as an adjunct to diet, meaning patients should start and continue a cholesterol-lowering diet and lifestyle program, including exercise and weight control, while taking this medicine.

How ATV 20 Works

ATV 20 contains Atorvastatin, a potent statin that blocks HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol synthesis in the liver. As hepatic cholesterol levels fall, the liver increases the number of LDL receptors on cell surfaces, which helps remove LDL cholesterol from the blood more efficiently.

Over time, this reduction in LDL and other atherogenic lipids helps slow the progression of atherosclerosis (fatty build-up in arteries) and decreases the risk of heart attack and stroke when used long-term as prescribed.

Dosage and Administration (Doctor-Guided)

The exact dose must always be decided by a registered doctor based on each patient’s condition, cholesterol level and overall risk. However, commonly referenced dosage guidelines for atorvastatin include:

Adults (primary hypercholesterolemia / mixed dyslipidemia)Usual starting dose: 10–20 mg once dailyDose may be adjusted at intervals of at least 4 weeks up to a maximum of 80 mg once daily

ATV 20 is taken once daily, at the same time each day, with or without food. Tablets should be swallowed with water and not crushed unless advised. Patients must not self-adjust the dose without medical advice.

Benefits for Bangladesh Patients

In Bangladesh, ATV 20 offers several practical benefits:

Effective cholesterol control – Atorvastatin is a widely studied statin with strong LDL-lowering effect and proven cardiovascular risk reduction.
Local availability and pricing – Delta Pharma’s ATV 20 mg tablet is widely available, with unit prices around Tk 9–10 per tablet (e.g., Tk 10 per piece; Tk 300 per 30-tablet box; some outlets offer discounts).
Multiple pack sizes – Common packs include strips of 10 tablets and boxes of 30 tablets, making it convenient for monthly or longer-term prescriptions.

Pharmacies, online medicine platforms and hospital dispensaries all stock ATV 20 because statin therapy is central to modern cardiovascular risk management.

Safety, Side Effects and Precautions

Like all statin medicines, ATV 20 can cause side effects in some patients. Commonly reported adverse effects of atorvastatin include:

Headache, dizziness
Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, dyspepsia, abdominal pain, diarrhea or constipation
Muscle-related symptoms like myalgia (muscle pain), muscle spasms and musculoskeletal pain
Elevated liver enzymes (transaminases) in blood tests

More detailed listings mention side-effect rates like myalgia 3–8%, muscle pain 2–5%, dyspepsia 3–6%, nausea 4–7%, and increased transaminases 2–3%, based on clinical trials.

Serious but rare reactions, such as myopathy and rhabdomyolysis (severe muscle breakdown), can occur, especially at higher doses or in combination with interacting drugs. Liver enzyme elevations may also require monitoring.

Important precautions your product content should emphasize:

ATV 20 should be used only under medical supervision and with regular follow-up.
Baseline and periodic liver function tests may be required.
Patients should report unexplained muscle pain, weakness or dark urine to a doctor immediately.
ATV 20 is generally contraindicated in patients with active liver disease, pregnancy and breastfeeding; women of childbearing age should use adequate contraception.

You must avoid giving direct medical advice on your site and always remind users that dose, duration and monitoring are decided by their physician.

How to Position ATV 20 in Your Store

For eCommerce and online pharmacy platforms in Bangladesh, ATV 20 fits under “High Cholesterol / Lipid-Lowering” or “Cardiac / Heart Care” categories. Your product page should:

Clearly display brand (ATV 20), generic (Atorvastatin 20 mg), manufacturer (Delta Pharma Ltd.).
Mention strength and pack size (e.g., 20 mg, 10 tablets strip, 30 tablets box).
Add a short, safe-use disclaimer: “This is a prescription drug. Use only as advised by a registered doctor.”
